Junior QA Tester (f/m/d)
Junior QA Tester (f/m/d)
Full-Time | Berlin, Germany
Swift Games is a Berlin mobile game studio and part of Ares Interactive, the cross-platform free-to-play group founded in 2024 by former Glu Mobile CEO Niccolo de Masi. Our 20+ person team (design, art, development, marketing) builds Heroes vs. Hordes, our flagship survival action roguelite RPG with 13M+ installs and a global player base that keeps growing. We've also just launched The Walking Dead: Aftermath, built on AMC's The Walking Dead license, so the studio has real momentum right now. We're looking for a Junior QA Tester to help us hold the quality bar high on Heroes vs. Hordes as we keep scaling it.
This is a role you can grow in: you'll start with hands-on testing and clear bug reporting, with mentorship and room to move toward broader QA ownership over time.
What you'll do:
Test new features, systems, and SDK integrations on Heroes vs. Hordes, mostly manual and exploratory
Write clear, reproducible bug reports and help maintain test cases and test plans
Support testing coordination within the sprint, with guidance from the team
Turn player-reported issues from Discord and Helpshift into clean, actionable bug tickets, working alongside our Community Manager to translate player language into technical detail
Support localization QA: checking that translated text displays correctly in-game (no truncation, right context)
Collaborate with developers, design, and product to catch issues early and help track build quality and rollout health
Bring a player's perspective to spot the bugs and rough edges real players will hit
What you'll bring (must-haves):
Solid understanding of manual and exploratory testing
Strong written communication in English, since bug reports and player-to-ticket translation live or die on clarity
Genuine interest in mobile games, especially roguelite or roguelike action games
Detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working in a team
Openness to using AI tools in your daily work to move faster and cut the busywork (it's how we operate)
Willingness to learn tools like JIRA (prior exposure is a plus, not required)
Nice to have:
Some prior QA or games-industry experience
Familiarity with agile workflows and sprints
Basic SQL or programming knowledge
Experience with DevOps tools like GitLab
We know that women and candidates from underrepresented backgrounds often hold back from applying unless they meet every single point. If you're excited about this role but don't tick every box, please apply anyway. We'd rather hear from you.
